Set It and Forget It!

I have had the Drobo 5N hooked into my network through a wireless network extender, and it works flawlessly, delivering data and media to MAC, Windows, and AV devices. The speed was noticeably improved with the installation of an Intel SSD in the underside slot. I have had a hard drive fail, with no loss of data. Simply replaced the bad drive and after it redistributed the data, it continues to perform. I initially had installed an HP NAS device, and after the drive that contained the system files failed, it was useless. It has outlasted

Just a reliable friend

So easy to use! Just plug in drives and let it do the work. Drive fails. Same thing!

Really very nice device, we like it

Not having had a drive fail, we don't know how resilient it is. Other than that, we really like it. Easy setup, great PC software to manage it, great user interface, easy setup, flexible operation, easy upgrade of memory cache, firmware update easy. Overall impressive box. We have used other brands and this is generally better in every way. The ability to survive loss of 2 of 5 drives is the deciding factor. Recommended.

Great NAS Box

This box works well. Faster than most of your boxed units and has more features than most of the competitors. This box also has a msata slot to hybrid the entire system. Most of the sites I see recommend a 64Gb or 120GB card.

Buyer beware

For the most part the Drobo is fine. However, the warranty is only 1 year, and after your warranty expires Drobo's tech support will not even email you unless you buy a service contract. My Drobo was fine for 18 months. I had a drive fail, the Drobo did exactly what it's designed to, and I replaced the bad drive. Ever since then it's been unbearably slow. Drobo refuses to help me, so I've since replaced my Drobo with a competing product.
