The usb connection broke off of my external hard drive. This system worked perfectly to allow access to the data.
This is the second one I own. The first one was for me, store all my music, files, movies on my 1T hard drive, swap out with my 500G hard drive to load programs I saved. I bought one for my son. He uses it to save his music, movies and programs, since we both have a dock I can share my music and movies with him and he can do the same for me.
I bought this must be 3 years, or more ago, when they first hit the market. Haveing old hard drives from numerous dead pre built computers I figured it would be an easy way to access those hard drives and not have to clutter up drives of a new build. It's been great to have every computer I ever had at my finger tips. Along with a host of lap top drives salvaged for media storage this has been a great investment. Plug a drive 3.5 or 2.5 in access or re-format and only your most essential items need to be on your operateing system drive.
Bought a new computer and added one of the HDs from my old computer to it. The other old HD still has a lot of pictures and some games I still like to play now and then. This let me transfer the pics to the new computer fast and now I can play my games from the old HD too.
This is great for copying data off from sata drives. I have used it a few times already to get data off from pc's that could not be saved.
