was able to copy over an image from a failing clunking system disk - worked flawlessly in replacing the old drive and the system started up just like new with all programs in place
Failed in less than 4 months
I never buy WD drives because I've had issue's with them over the years. This one was a replacement for a failed RAID setup. The customer ended up getting a new PC so I used this in one of my systems. Packaging looked new but when I installed the drive it had 5 partitions on it. I decided to use it anyways and here I am with a dead hard drive.
I cloned an 80 GB drive to this and it all went flawlessly. Nice Drive!
The bare drive seems to have its own opinion about the way it wants to download programs. After a little coaxing, it comes around. It is very quiet and speedy. Not the best, but very good value. Once it gets going, it performs well.
Works After One Year
Can not say the same for a comparable Seagate hard drive. My WD is still problem free. My Seagate obsoleted pretty close to one year after simultaneous use. I wish I had purchsed two WDs, to begin with.
